I made a quick trip to the North Woods this week.
It was maybe in an attempt to pre-empt the mass migration that’s about to happen from all corners of the country, and acclimate to the camp climate. I found myself disappointingly out of breath from my treks across camp. (In my defense, I’m fighting hay fever tooth and nail these days).
In all my treks, I noticed a few things.
Docks parts lay at the top of the Mulford steps, awaiting their first dip in Pokegama. Rogue dodge balls from the summer before rolled out from the thickets in the tree farm–remnants of the summer before, bursting forth like the dandelions and ferns so characteristic of this season. I got my cabin set up for the summer, took a mental inventory of craft supplies and peanut butter jars, started trying to remember where I left… Everything.
Do you have a hard time packing for camp?
I happen to be terrible at packing (apparently too attached to my material things) so I tend to put it off for as long as possible. In true procrastinator fashion, I find plenty of things to distract me from the task at hand–dishes to wash, laundry to fold, plants to water. This year, I dedicated myself to a very specific diversion, which we’d love to share with you today.
Below is our Packing 101 Tutorial.
Whether you’re heading to camp for the first time or 50th in 2017, all of us heading to Grand Rapids for the summer have to start in the same place: with a suitcase. Enjoy!
And now “Yakety Sax” will follow you for the rest of the day! You’re welcome!
